1- History of the family business
Arar farms were established as a family business in March 1990 by the agricultural and dates expert Dr. Abdullah Arar. In the beginning of 2017 the management of the farms was transferred to his son, Mr. Nabil Arar. He built the business into what it is today: one of the most distinguished farms in the dates production.
The farms are located in the Jordan Valley one kilometer south of the Agricultural Experimental Farm of the Jordan University, with an area of approximately 30 hectares, at an elevation of 350 m below sea level. With its unique micro-climate, the farms can produce when no others can.
Mr. Arar, is a valued member of the Jordan Exporters and Producers Association for Fruit and Vegetables (JEPA) and has reached the level to become a part of the Jordan Excellence Platform.
In January 2017, the company´s name became National Dates LLC but it maintained Arar Farms as commercial name.
2- Production and exports
Arar farms produce distinguished and high-quality dates. These include varieties such as Medjool dates (50% of production is exported), and Barhi (25% of production exported) while the remaining percentage of both types are marketed locally in Jordan.
Arar´s export markets includes: Eastern Europe, Gulf countries, Turkey, Indonesia and France.
3- Certificates
Over the years, Arar farms obtained the most important certificates necessary for exports and this has helped them to build its reputation further. The Certificates includes: BRC, GLOBALG.A.P., HACCP, ISO, UTZ, ORGANIC, FAIRTRADE.
4- Innovation
Arar farms is always on top of new technologies and innovations in its agricultural production and processing such as drip irrigation, post-harvest technology and state of the art cooling facilities. This has allowed for the production of finest products with high nutritional values and delicious tastes which meet the consumer’s demand.
Currently, the farms are developing new projects to convert damaged dates into ethanol, a medical alcohol used for sterilization in farms, as well as marketing this product to pharmaceutical companies and medical laboratories to produce sterilizers.
Arar Farms are proud to have received the Khalifa International Award for Dates from the United Arab Emirates as the best model farms in 2011.
