    Smart growth in exportable production focuses on Quality Safe produce that is a basic requirement from both the consumers and the importers. In 2019, 45400 tons of capsicum were exported.

    COMPANIES & STRUCTURE

    Apart from many smaller scale producers, who mainly sell in the local markets, two exporters stand out: Mohammad Abu Sido Farms and Raed Al Hamshari Trading Company. Both companies manage the entire chain from production to exports.

    PERSONAL EXPERIENCE

    The UK market has always been an important export market for Jordan´s capsicum. Today´s requirements lead Jordanian´s capsicum growers to look for new technologies and investing in upgrading their facilities. Mohammad Abu Sido states:

    “We started in 2004 the production of capsicum through contracts with the Russian market with the help of Jordanian and Turkish traders,. We started with small quantities and gradually we expanded until now where we produce 10,000 tons per season. We are trying to add new variates and look for the best variates that have the longest shelf life, quality and taste. We succeeded in penetrating new markets like GCC in wintertime especially in the period between February and May. We always focus on new technologies and on abiding by international standards”
